Darryl Brandt is a 54 year old, multicultural bohemian. The Valley of The Sun has been his home for fast approaching 20 years. His son has been raised here. He's become part of the community. He's given dignity, respect, a kind word, and a life changing haircut to pro sports figures, movers and shakers, senior citizens, toddlers, and people who are unsheltered.
Darryl grew up in small town Ohio. He went to college and worked in nightclubs and radio. He was trained in NYC and became a Master Barber in 1999. Music is a passion along with helping those in need.
In the summer of '22, Darryl became a certified ACEs trainer upon recognizing the importance of providing a confidential, non-judgmental, safe, trauma informed space for dialogue to generate discussion about mental health awareness, suicide prevention, and battling the opioid epidemic. In December he became a Narcan educator. In January of 2023, he finished his certification as a peer support specialiist. This year he was elected onto the Board of Directors for The Arizona ACEs Consortium raising awareness to how trauma effects health and wellbeing .

Valley resident and New York City trained Master Barber Darryl Brandt, aka The Dreaded Barber, has launched a new venture. He previously built a reputation in the west valley when he brought his SNIP barber shops from Albuquerque over seventeen years ago. Nearly a decade ago he created Public Image, a barber shop & salon concept on Phoenix's Roosevelt Row. It closed at the onset of the Covid pandemic. He has radically downsized to create a non profit providing free haircuts to homeless, less fortunate, and marginalized members of our community. Darryl is also a Certified Peer Support Specialist who provides a confidential, nonjudgemental, safe, and trauma informed opportunity to create dialogue and break stigmas. With information on mental health awareness & suicide prevention, fighting the opioid epidemic, Narcan distribution, and providing linkage to care for the unsheltered, this is clearly more than just a haircut.
The Dreaded Barber creates the frame smashing use a mobile unit that's dedicated to serving those in need on the streets, with all the sounds, services, and smells of a brick and mortar barber shop plus the safety and peace of mind of continuing to provides so much more than a haircut

The bus can be booked to provide services at corporate events, block parties, BBQs, bachelor parties, concerts, festivals, PPVs, poker nights, pool parties or any other events you can dream up. Those donations from booked events help fund routine maintenence, insurance, gas. for the vehicle, and further expand the charity's widespread community outreach.
